Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from music teachers about Musically Nowlin.
Is Musically Nowlin really free?
Yes. The core games are free for classroom use — no trial period, no expiration. There are no ads, no paywalls to access games, and no student data collected. This platform is built by music teachers for music teachers.
Do students need accounts to play?
No. Students enter a class code and select a numbered slot — no email, no password, no account. Teachers can optionally assign display names to slots, but students never enter personal information themselves.
What devices does it work on?
Musically Nowlin is designed Chromebook-first and iPad-first, since those are the most common devices in music classrooms. It works in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, and Edge — on laptops, tablets, and phones.
Is this aligned to music education standards?
Yes. Every game is designed around real developmental sequences used in elementary music classrooms. The activities align with the National Core Arts Standards and are informed by Kodály and Orff-Schulwerk methodologies.
How is student data protected?
Musically Nowlin is COPPA-compliant. No personally identifiable information is collected from students. Students access games through class codes only — no accounts, no emails, no tracking across sessions.
What’s the difference between free and premium?
The free plan gives you up to 3 classes and access to all games. Premium unlocks unlimited classes, detailed analytics, assignment tools, and exportable reports — everything you need to track student growth across the year.
Can I use this for sub plans?
Absolutely. Focus Mode lets you direct students to a specific game and level. Share the class code with your substitute, and students can work independently without needing any additional setup or instructions.
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free teacher account, create a class, and share the class code with your students. That’s it — students can start playing in under a minute.
What grade levels is this designed for?
The games are designed primarily for elementary music students (K–5), but many activities work well for middle school reinforcement too. Difficulty levels within each game let you differentiate for a wide range of learners.
Can I suggest a new game or feature?
Yes! Teacher feedback shapes what we build next. If you have an idea for a game, a skill you wish were covered, or a feature that would make your life easier, reach out through the contact page. Every suggestion is read and considered.
